Job Requirements/Description

Here's where you'll make a difference:

Your contribution will influence our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Homes Platform technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders. This is a key role at the financial heart of the Group, underpinning the long-term sustainability and integrity of the organisation.

What we need from you:

We need a leader in Solution Architecture who knows and understands the challenges of modern software development in a complex Enterprise. You will build a compelling and powerful image of where we’re heading to from an architecture and design perspective. You will understand technology implications for people and process, and will bring this to your holistic view of design. You will ideally have previous career experience in software engineering or solution architecture and will be well placed to define and sell your vision for Engineers, Architects, and Product Owners alike.

We’re looking for someone who can provide evidence of their:

  • Experience of solution architecture, including working with complex Enterprise platforms
  • Ability to drive complex negotiations to gain agreement from senior stakeholders
  • Ability to see the big picture and translate Business priorities into technical solutions
  • Experience of working on multiple products simultaneously and understand the relationships between them
  • Line management of technical resources
  • Understanding of risk management concepts and how to factor this into work prioritisation models
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices
  • Strong understanding of and experience of working with Enterprise Architecture principles and strategy
  • Strong understanding of building applications through containerised microservices-based architectures, with a working-to-strong understanding of cloud methodologies
  • Experience of risk, infrastructure, resilience and security architecture practices and concerns
  • Active involvement in architecture and design governance

In terms of personal skills, you must be able to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences from end-users to senior stakeholders. You will be able to produce high quality documentation, tailored to your audience. You will be self-organising and able to prioritise both your own and your team’s resources to meet demanding delivery timeframes.

Our continued commitment to helping Britain prosper means that as a colleague you can make a difference to customers, businesses and communities.

Together we have a key role to play in shaping the bank of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll continue to have opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture, and our approach to inclusion and diversity means that we all have the opportunity to make a real difference, together.

As part of the Group's commitments as a result of ring-fencing legislation, colleagues based in the Islands are required to be exclusively dedicated to the non-ring-fenced bank and its subsidiaries. This means that colleagues who are based in the Islands would not be able to undertake roles for the Ring Fenced Bank from their existing location and would need to consider relocation when applying for roles.
