The post holder will join Leeds Mind as a Peer Support Worker embedded within the recovery team at Asket Croft. The post will be based at Asket Croft in Seacroft and is full time.

Purpose of the role 

The role of the Recovery Worker is to deliver specific components of prescribed care packages under the direct supervision of Care Coordinators and Clinical Leads. The post holder will provide formalised support and practice assistance to people using R&R in order for them to take control over their own lives and engage actively in their unique recovery process.

The Leeds Mind Recovery Worker role requires lived experience of mental health difficulties, and the Recovery Centre encourages the use of the wisdom gained through personal ‘lived’ experience, to inspire hope in others and the belief that recovery is possible for all. The post holder will be employed by Leeds Mind, will be part of the Leeds Mind peer support team and will be based Asket Croft and will work into the inpatient rehabilitation and recovery units and in the community with people who present with complex needs.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities  

  • To have good verbal communication skills and an excellent understanding of how to build rapport with people using the service, carers and others as required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and to have a good understanding of individual’s roles within the team, understanding the importance of effective communication and liaison with other agencies and professionals.
  • Will understand the possible barriers in building a good, effective, professional, empathic relationship with people using the service, and to be aware of strategies to help improve communications and relationships.
  • To contribute to the evaluation of care plans by reporting observations accurately and regularly.
  • To maintain communication and links with parent organisation if not directly employed through LYPFT.
  • To maintain accurate records of client care, informing senior clinicians of any changes in the client’s health or social care. To contribute to the evaluation of care plans by reporting observations and interventions accurately and regularly in case notes. Also, to make clear written records in relation to any task or clinical practice that relates to individual scare e.g., liaison with family members. 
  • To ensure the diverse needs of our people using the service and those who come into contact with our services are considered and supported.
